Loyalty program software patients keep on their phone

Patients earn points on treatments, check in with a QR code, refer friends and turn points into wallet credit, all in one app that opens into your practice.

Velarya is loyalty program software for clinics, spas and salons. Patients earn points on what they spend on treatments, earn more for checking in and referring friends, get a sign-up bonus and a birthday gift, and turn their points into wallet credit they spend in the app. Members can earn at a higher rate. The same app lets patients book and buy memberships, so booking, earning and redeeming happen in one place, while your EMR or practice software keeps the chart.

Patients see their balance, their challenges and their credit every time they open the app. Your team sees the same numbers on the patient’s profile, with every point on a ledger that explains itself.

Loyalty program vs membership vs package: which should a practice run?

Run a loyalty program for every patient and a paid membership for your regulars, and treat a package as a way to sell a course of one treatment. The three answer different questions: a loyalty program rewards the spending patients already do, a membership turns a routine into a monthly commitment, and a package sells several sessions of one treatment up front.

Loyalty program

Membership

Package

What the patient pays

Nothing extra. They earn as they spend

A recurring fee, monthly or annually

One payment up front for several sessions

What they get

Points that turn into credit, plus rewards for check-ins, referrals and birthdays

Monthly credit, included treatments and member pricing

A lower price per session

Best for

Every patient, from the first visit

Regulars with a routine, like a monthly facial, a regular massage or a lash fill

A course of the same treatment

What to watch

A program nobody sees. Keep the balance in the app, in front of patients

Unused benefits, which lead to cancellations

Expiry rules, which vary by state

In Velarya

Points, check-in and referral challenges, a sign-up bonus and a birthday gift, redeemed as wallet credit

Paid memberships with monthly credits, included treatments, member pricing and automatic renewal

Sell treatments in the app, with volume pricing

The first two stack. A member can earn points at a higher rate than everyone else, so the membership and the loyalty program reward the same patient twice. Memberships have their own page, membership software. Whether a prepaid package can expire depends on the state, which we worked through in can a prepaid treatment package expire. How do patients earn and redeem points?

Patients earn points on what they spend on treatments, at the rate you set per dollar. A member earns at their plan’s rate, which is never lower than the standard one. Points are added when the payment goes through in Velarya or when the visit is marked complete, and each order earns once.

To redeem, a patient turns points into wallet credit in the app, at one fixed rate across your whole program. The credit then pays for treatments and memberships at checkout. Points become credit, and credit gets spent with you, which keeps the program simple to explain at the front desk.

Every earn, redemption and adjustment is an entry on the patient’s point ledger, which your team opens from the profile and patients see as activity in the app. Staff with the right permission can adjust a balance by hand, and the adjustment is recorded like every other entry.

Check-in and referral challenges

Challenges reward the two things that grow a practice: showing up and bringing a friend. A check-in challenge gives points each time staff scan a patient’s code at the front desk. You set the points, how often a check-in can pay out and an optional lifetime cap. A referral challenge rewards both the patient and the friend they bring, under the activation rule you choose.

Patients see the challenges that are running in the rewards tab of the app, with the points on offer. Check-ins work whether or not you use Velarya booking, because the scan is the visit.

Loyalty program management for your team

Velarya is a loyalty platform with two sides: the app patients carry and the dashboard your team runs. As loyalty management software, the dashboard is where you set the rules, see what happened and fix what went wrong.

What your team does

How it works

Set the rules

Each way to earn has its own settings: the earn rate per dollar, check-in points and limits, referral rewards, the birthday gift and promo codes. Nothing earns until you set it.

See what happened

The point ledger lists every earn, redemption and adjustment, and a patient’s profile shows their points and wallet balance.

Fix a mistake

Staff with the right permission add or remove points or credit and give a reason. The change is recorded with their name.

Decide who can do what

Roles control who can see balances and who can change them.

A group with several sites runs one program, and a patient’s points follow them from site to site. The setup steps are in the guide to setting up your loyalty program.

Can you keep your current scheduler?

Yes. Switch Velarya booking off and the app becomes a place to shop and earn: patients buy treatments in the app and book them by calling you or messaging you on WhatsApp, while your current scheduler stays as it is. They earn points on what they buy in the app and when staff scan their check-in code, and they redeem credit the same way.

Leave booking on and patients book, earn and redeem in one app, with reminders, a waitlist and deposits handled for them. The loyalty program runs the same either way. The booking side is covered on book in the app.

Why run loyalty in an app?

A loyalty program works when patients can see it. A punch card lives in a wallet and an email lands in a promotions tab. An app sits on the home screen, shows the balance every time it opens, and carries reminders by push notification. What clients see and do in it is on the loyalty app page.

Every plan comes with an app, and the question is whose name is on it. Patients can start in the Velarya app, which is on the App Store and Google Play, opens into your practice and takes on your colors. Or you can have your own app, listed in the stores under your practice’s name and published under your Apple developer account.

Med spas: your own program next to manufacturer rewards

Many med spa patients already collect manufacturer points. Allē, from AbbVie, lets patients earn and save on the brand’s aesthetic products and treatments at participating providers, through one brand-owned app (its App Store listing, read September 22, 2026). Your own program rewards patients for coming back to you, across everything on your menu, so the two run side by side. Keep the manufacturer points, and own the relationship with the patient. We compared what the manufacturer programs publish in med spa manufacturer loyalty programs.

How to choose the best loyalty program software

The right choice is the one your patients actually see and your team can run without a spreadsheet. Six questions sort the options:

  • Do patients see the program? A balance in an app on the home screen beats a card in a wallet.

  • Does every point leave a trail? Look for a ledger that explains each earn, redemption and adjustment.

  • Does it reward what you want? Spending, showing up and bringing a friend are different goals, so each should be its own setting.

  • Does it fit your scheduler? The program should work whether patients book in the vendor’s calendar or in the one you keep. In Velarya, booking is a switch.

  • Whose name is on it? Patients can use an app in your colors, or your own app under your practice’s name.

  • Does it protect patient data? Ask for a Business Associate Agreement. Velarya signs one with every practice, on every plan.

HIPAA and a signed BAA

A loyalty program knows who your patients are and what they buy, so it holds patient data. Velarya is built for HIPAA, with field-level encryption, PHI access controls, and audit and access history, and Velarya signs a Business Associate Agreement with every practice, on every plan. The detail is on our security page.

What does it cost?

Points, referral rewards and paid memberships are on every plan, including Basic. Check-ins, the sign-up bonus, the birthday gift and promo codes are on Scale, Branded and Connected. Every plan is priced per location, billed monthly or annually, with no setup fee, and the figures are on the pricing page. To see the program with your own menu in it, book a demo.

Frequently asked questions

What is loyalty program software?

It is software that rewards patients for coming back. In Velarya, patients earn points on what they spend on treatments and for check-ins, referrals, signing up and birthdays, then turn those points into wallet credit they spend with you. The program lives in an app patients keep on their phone, next to booking and memberships.

How do patients earn points?

Mainly by spending, at a points-per-dollar rate you set, with a higher rate for members. On top of that you can switch on points for QR check-ins, rewards for referrals, a sign-up bonus and a birthday gift. Each one is its own setting, so you can reward spending only, or reward showing up as well.

How do patients redeem their points?

In the app. A patient turns points into wallet credit at one fixed rate across your program, then spends that credit on treatments and memberships at checkout. Every redemption is written to the patient’s point ledger, so the front desk never has to work out a balance by hand.

Should a practice run a loyalty program or a membership?

Usually both. A loyalty program rewards every patient for the spending they already do, and a membership turns your regulars’ routine into a monthly commitment with credits, included treatments and member pricing. In Velarya the two stack: members earn points at a higher rate than everyone else.

Is Velarya customer loyalty software for a small business?

Velarya is customer loyalty software for clinics, spas and salons, and it works as a small business loyalty system for a single location: you set an earn rate, switch on the ways to earn you want, and the app keeps every balance. A group with several sites runs the same program across all of them, and patients’ points follow them from site to site.

Can I run challenges?

Yes. Velarya runs check-in and referral challenges. A check-in challenge awards points each time staff scan a patient’s code, with a limit on how often it pays out and an optional lifetime cap, and patients see running challenges in the app.

Do we have to use Velarya for booking?

No. You can switch Velarya booking off and keep the scheduler you use today. Patients then buy treatments in the app and book them by phone or WhatsApp, and they earn points on what they buy in the app and when staff scan their check-in code. With booking on, patients book, earn and redeem in one app.

Do I need my own branded app for loyalty to work?

No. From day one your practice can run in the Velarya app, which is on the App Store and Google Play, opens into your practice and takes on your colors. When you want your own app, Velarya builds and publishes it under your practice’s name and your Apple developer account, with the same loyalty program inside.

How is Velarya different from RepeatMD?

RepeatMD’s help center describes one universal patient app, MyRepeat, that serves all of its practices (read September 22, 2026). With Velarya a practice can start in the Velarya app and move to its own app, listed in the stores under the practice’s name. Payments settle in the practice’s own Stripe account, and Velarya publishes its plans and prices on its pricing page.

Is a loyalty scheme the same as a loyalty program?

Yes. Loyalty scheme and loyalty programme are the British names for the same thing, and a punch card or digital stamp card is its simplest form. In Velarya the scheme runs on points patients earn on what they spend, plus check-ins, referrals and birthdays, turned into wallet credit in one app.
