Available on request. Book a call, we scope it against Open Dental's published API, build and test it with your team, and it goes live in your account.

  1. We request Open Dental developer portal access with only the API permissions your build needs.

  2. We generate a customer key for your office, and your team pastes it into Open Dental's API setup.

  3. We subscribe to Open Dental API events for appointments and patients, at a polling interval we agree with you.

  4. Patient payments are read from Open Dental's Payments resource and matched to members before points are awarded.

  5. We test against Open Dental's published test credentials first, then with your office.

Each connection is scoped on a call and quoted separately, and the timeline is agreed on that call.

About the Open Dental connection

Does Velarya integrate with Open Dental?

Available on request: our team builds the connection for your practice after a scoping call, using Open Dental's published API. It reads appointments, patients and payments, and can post redemptions back to Open Dental as adjustments.

What does our office need to set up in Open Dental?

An admin pastes the customer key we generate into Setup > Advanced Setup > API and ticks Enabled. For the Remote API, your office also needs Open Dental's eConnector running.

What happens if the office computer that sends events is off over a weekend?

A workstation that is switched off does not poll, and when it runs again it picks up the rows changed since its last successful send. If our endpoint is ever unreachable, Open Dental includes changes from up to the last three days on the next successful delivery.

Can we decide which payments earn points?

Yes. On the scoping call we agree which Open Dental payment types count toward points, for example patient payments but not insurance claim payments. You set the earning rules; if you bill federal programs, talk to your counsel about patient incentives.

How long does it take to go live?

Open Dental processes developer portal requests in one to three business days. The rest of the timeline depends on your office setup, and we agree it with you on the scoping call.

Patient details, visits and payments are protected health information, so Velarya signs a Business Associate Agreement with your practice before any data flows. The connection reads what points and member profiles need; procedures and chart content stay in Open Dental.
